David M. Durham
Principal of Stokes Early College High School
Welcome to the Stokes Early College High School (SECHS)! Our school offers a unique learning experience for students of the Stokes County school system. We are the only high school in the school system that is located on a Forsyth Technical Community College campus that allows students to graduate in 4-5 years with both a high school diploma as well as a college associate’s degree.
Our school provides small classes that offer individualized instruction, making the educational experience personal and relevant for our students, who come from all over Stokes County with a range of learning styles. Stokes Early College High School students are challenged with the academic rigor of both Honors high school courses as well as college classes, and they are motivated to succeed through an innovative, hands-on learning environment.
At Stokes Early College High School, we are a team, we support each other, and we strive for excellence. We appreciate the support from the community, Forsyth Technical Community College, the Stokes County School Board, the Stokes County Commissioners, the Stokes County Manager, and our central office staff in Danbury. Without the support and constant collaboration between these stakeholders, SECHS could not continue to provide such a successful learning opportunity for students of Stokes County.
Many of our alumni have gone to do great things such as become pilots, enter the military, receive their Doctorate programs, become educators, become welders, or become linemen, to name a few. I look forward to the opportunity of working with the students, staff, and community and to watch OUR students' success as they embark on this part of their life's journey.
